Decision Maker (Primary Years)
For years 1 through 6, currently 108 age-appropriate scenarios
Decision Maker is a quick and easy ‘PowerPoint Style’ online presentation system that supports children in the process of making safe and healthy decisions. The resource addresses a variety of issues that we know happen at school and home, focusing on the age-appropriate risks and threats that children face in everyday life. With resources available for children in Years 1 through 8, topics include issues around staying safe inside and outside the home, medicines, drugs, alcohol, difference, vaping, misogyny and online safety.
It is the result of extensive consultation with teachers, schools, and our Youth Advisory Board. It has been designed to help reduce the impact of poor decisions made by young people on teachers and senior leadership by addressing common issues that can escalate and be time-consuming.
The resources for each year group include 18 scenarios, each accompanied by discussion points for the teacher to use throughout the year. They can be used at the end of a PSHE lesson, as a speaking and listening activity, end-of-day thought, form time, class assembly focus – or at any time you feel it would be most effective.
All scenarios developed are based on the experiences of teachers and young people who have faced these situations and the consequences that poor decisions can bring.
